Best Baby Food Makers Buying Guide

A robot is a luxury machine, but buying commercial puree can quickly be too, especially if you add the biological criterion. However, with a baby food maker, you make sure you know what goes into your child’s mouth. In fact, a baby food maker allows you to create healthy and varied homemade purees and let your creativity run wild to blend the foods you want, all in minutes and without preservatives. Also, you can choose to prepare organic purees at a lower cost than those available in stores. And what about the environmental benefits of producing your own purees while avoiding over-consumption of plastic and glass.

Even if making your purees take more time than buying them at the store, the benefits are well proven. Fortunately, several companies have made baby food processor available to make your job easier.

There are two types: all-in-one food processors, which allow you to both steam and puree food, and blenders, which only reduce previously cooked food. The former are, of course, the more expensive and less simple to use than the latter, but are practical and time-saving.

As part of this review, 5 models among the most popular on the market were selected. The functionality of each is compared and the inventory of the pros and cons of each baby food maker has been realized.

4 main criteria were evaluated: Ease of use, representing the simplicity of use of the device; Performance, for the quality of production of the puree by the machine; Quality, for the choice of materials; and finally, the Overall Appreciation for the user-friendliness of the device and its use.

My first choice is the Cuisinart BFM 1000C. You’ll have no trouble pureeing even the toughest foods like leafy vegetables and fibrous fruits. It’s all-in-one system saves you from any manipulation between the cooking and chopping stages. Its design is interesting and compact, and you’ll have a bottle warmer as a bonus. In short, it is a complete device that will meet your needs and even more.

For small budgets, the Baby Bullet presents a good performance. However, you will have to cook your food separately, which explains its lower cost. The device amazes with its fine hash and simplicity. You can easily continue to use it after the puree stage for your smoothies and dips.

In the interest of public health, all the products reviewed are BPA-free, lead-free and phthalate-free.

Why We Love It

If you want to have a device for preparing your baby’s food and want to bottle-feed him beforehand, look no further, the Cuisinart BFM 1000C is the device for you.

Definitely the best all-in-one appliance evaluated for puree production, the Cuisinart BFM 1000C will make beautiful smooth purees for you with minimal effort. It easily and gently purees even the most difficult foods such as sweet potatoes and carrots.

It is the only device reviewed to include a bottle warmer. However, bottles that are too large cannot be used in the space provided for this purpose. Otherwise, this functionality is simple to use and greatly facilitating.

With a 4-cup capacity, the Cuisinart BFM 1000C makes it possible to make respectable amounts of puree. However, avoid filling the tank to the brim and cut raw food into small pieces for optimal use.

The puree reduction after steaming is done manually as with the BÉABA. It is recommended to stop grinding every 20-30 seconds to avoid overheating the motor. It is also recommended to wait a certain time between each cooking in order to allow the engine time to cool down. Also, the blade has a protection system to prevent it from falling during the transfer of the puree.

The food cooking tank is made of plastic. Even if it is certified BPA-free, cooking in plastic containers is often not recommended by specialists and can leave a metallic taste to food. In addition, the poor quality of the plastic in the cooking tank means that certain foods can leave colored marks on the passage.

Also, some users have noticed mold in the water tank, which is difficult to access and therefore to clean. The company suggests frequent washing with water and vinegar, performing a full-cooking cycle to prevent mold and descale the tank. Also, empty the water tank after each use and allow it to dry before closing it. Otherwise, the food container is easy to clean and dishwasher safe. However, it is recommended to wash the blade by hand in order to preserve the quality of its sharpening.

The Cuisinart BFM 1000C is a compact appliance with a modern design that can easily be left on the kitchen countertop. This device will save you time and money and your baby will be able to benefit from the good homemade purees that you have prepared for him. Particular attention to cleaning will allow you to enjoy it for a long time.

Why We Love It

Dedicated exclusively to the reduction of food into puree, the Baby Bullet stands out for the quality of the texture of the puree produced. There is no doubt that no piece will resist the powerful blade of the device. 2 types of blades are offered with the appliance, depending on the level of smoothness you want to give to your puree.

The device is very simple to use. Simply place the previously cooked food in the container provided and apply downward pressure. The Baby Bullet is the fastest pureeing device among the models reviewed. It only takes a few seconds to make delicious homemade purees. Do not hesitate to remove the tank from the motor and shake it if some food remains stuck to the plastic. As soon as your baby is ready, you can make chunky purees by applying shorter pressures on the tank.

The Baby Bullet comes with 2 tanks; a small and a larger one for larger quantities. 6 small containers are also provided to store your purees in the refrigerator. A small washer is inserted into each small container so that you can indicate the date of preparation of the puree and avoid its expiration. Very clever for an appliance at this price!

The whole appliance, except the motor, is suitable for the dishwasher, even if it is not recommended to wash the blades there. Producing purees has never been easier.

Even though the Baby Bullet is made of plastic, since there is no cooking inside the tank, there is no danger or health concern. The company sells one steam cooking appliance separately, the Baby Bullet Turbo Steamer, if the idea of having several separate appliances comes to your mind.

Therefore, the Baby Bullet is the simplest device to keep in good condition, since there is no steam tank that can leave some mold. Although you will have a little more dishes to do since the cooking of food will have to be done in another way, the simplicity and especially the price of this device are totally worth it.

Also, when your baby grows up, you can easily keep the device to make smoothies or vegetable creams. However, at this price, don’t expect long durability. Several users mention the device’s failure after a few months of use just like the company’s other appliances such as the Magic Bullet and the Nutri Bullet.

Why We Love It

The BÉABA Baby Cook Pro is a device that steams food and then purees it. All with a minimum of human intervention. At this price, you’d expect it to be a high-end product, but it’s something else entirely. The BÉABA is disappointing and unfortunately not worth the price paid.

With a capacity of 4.7 cups, the BÉABA tank is the largest of the models reviewed, allowing you to make several reserves of puree. If your budget allows it, the BÉABA is available with a double tank, giving you a capacity of 9.4 cups. Convenient for families with twins and more!

What is disappointing with this appliance is that you have to transfer the food from the basket after steaming in order to place it directly in the tank before chopping it. It is not a complex step, but it can represent a risk of burns, since the basket becomes very hot. The device provides a spatula to lift the basket without having to touch it, but the tool is not the most user-friendly. However, this transfer prevents food from sticking to the wall during cooking.

After steaming the food, which takes an average of 15 minutes, and transferring the food from the basket to the tank, simply turn the front wheel to the right a few times to engage the motor. Special mention to the low decibel of the motor.

In terms of performance, BÉABA has difficulty producing a smooth puree, even if the food is cut into small pieces. The BABA is suitable if you want to make lumpy purees, but it is unsuitable for the baby first purees. A better quality blade is expected at the asking price for the device.

The tank is made of plastic, but polypropylene, which is of better quality. However, it is still plastic that heats up. It would have been nice to have a glass tank at this price. Also, several users have reported a premature engine failure, which raises doubts about the quality of the product.

After using the BÉABA, you can put all the parts in the dishwasher, but, like any other blade device, we recommend washing the blade by hand to preserve sharpness. Like the Cuisinart BFM 1000C, the stainless steel steam water tank is not accessible, making washing difficult. There is a risk of mold growth in the water tank if it is not properly cleaned and dried. It is also possible to descale the tank with water and vinegar after several uses.

In short, the BÉABA is a good device in itself. However, are you really willing to pay that much money when other devices offer similar capabilities at a much more affordable price? The BABA has a very modern design that will look great in a fancy kitchen. It’s up to you whether you want a functional appliance or a kitchen trophy.

Why We Love It

Many are already familiar with Baby Brezza Formula Pro, much appreciated by parents for simplifying the mixing of milk powder with water to prepare and warm bottles. The same company also produces a device to simplify the life of parents through its robot for preparing purees.

With a 3-cup container, the Baby Brezza Baby Food maker Deluxe requires no transfers to cook the food and then puree it. Easy to use and intuitive considering its all-in-one feature, the device can practically be used without reading the user manual. You can program the appliance so that it can steam and then puree without human intervention. The duration of the process varies between 5 and 25 minutes depending on the food.

On the other hand, the poor quality of the blade causes several pieces to escape the chopper, making a lumpy puree. This is more the case for small foods, such as ground meat, or leafy foods such as kale. Moreover, the surprising appearance of the blade dotted with holes makes hand cleaning more difficult, because the food can stick to it. To make it easier, do not delay washing it after use.

Several users mention that their puree had a metallic or plastic taste, despite having cleaned it thoroughly with water and vinegar. Also, the small capacity of the container is disappointing, unless you want to make your purees on a daily basis.

Cleaning the steam water tank is relatively easy, especially since it can be completely removed from the appliance. Simply put water and vinegar inside and shake it. Be sure to do at least 2 complete cycles of steaming without food before putting it back into use. On this point, the Baby Brezza Baby Food maker Deluxe stands out positively from the other models reviewed.

Like the other models reviewed, the plastic composition of the cooking container is disappointing, considering the heat emanating from the engine. Baby Brezza does, however, sell a model with a glass cooking pot, which distinguishes it from the other companies evaluated.

The unit comes with three reusable bags and three funnels for easy filling. One bag can hold up to seven ounces of puree. These bags are great for on-the-go meals. Please note that these bags are sold separately and can be used from any food processor to prepare puree.

The difference between this model and the regular model is mainly the digital screen, the addition of reusable bags and the possible removal of the steam-water tank. The price difference is, in our view, well worth it.

In short, I was not impressed with this device. You can get better quality mash at a lower cost with the Cuisinart BFM 1000C. While the Baby Brezza Formula Pro stands out from the competition in bottle preparation appliances, Baby Brezza did not achieve the same feat with the Baby Brezza Baby Food maker Deluxe.

  • Necessary food transfer
  • Low durability

Why We Love It

We’re talking about a 4-in-1 appliance, since in addition to steaming and chopping food, it heats and defrosts dishes in no time.

The design of the QOOC 4 in 1 strangely recalls that of the BÉABA BabyCook Pro. The device works very similarly too. You must transfer the food from the basket using a spatula provided with the appliance after steaming in order to place it directly in the tank for chopping.

When the light button goes off, the food is cooked. You must then turn the wheel to the right to activate the blade. The device is simple to use. The buttons are intuitive, just like the BÉABA BabyCook Pro.

With its 2-cup cooking container, the QOOC 4 in 1 is the smallest of the devices reviewed. Although it has a footprint advantage on the countertop since it takes up little space, forget about the large puree supply. You will have to repeat the process several times to accumulate supplies.

The pureed-reduction feature is not the best. Some lumps may resist, even if you repeat the blade cycle several times. Some pieces appear to escape the blade and end up at the bottom of the container.

The QOOC 4 in 1 gains several points of appreciation for its ease of cleaning. All parts, except the engine and the steam container, are suitable for washing in the dishwasher. We really like the cleaning brush supplied with the appliance to wash the water tank. Before using the appliance, make sure to wash the water tank thoroughly and do 2 or 3 complete steaming cycles before cooking food.

QOOC 4-in-1 users appreciate its quiet engine. Since it is a small device, the motor has less power. This will prevent you from waking the baby when the hash function is activated.

The device does not offer the best quality of plastic, which may crack as it is used. Moreover, even regular washing does not prevent the deposit of colored stains left by cooking food.

In summary, the QOOC 4 in 1 is a good device for small budgets and for those with overflowing cabinets. You will be able to leave it on the countertop without fear of encroaching too much on your workspace. It is also the best device for the value for money criteria.
